What Is Army ROTC?
Leadership That Lasts a Lifetime!

Army Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) is an elective curriculum you take along with your required college courses. It gives you the tools, training and experiences that will help you succeed in any competitive environment. Along with great leadership training, Army ROTC can help pay for your college tuition.  Because ROTC is an elective, you can participate your freshmen and sophomore years without any obligation to join the Army. You will have a normal college student experience like everyone else on campus, but once you graduate, you will be commissioned as an Officer in the Army and be given a particular specialty or "branch" (Infantry, Aviation, Medical, Intelligence, etc). Some branches are more competitive to get into than others, but you will have the opportunity during your senior year to make your preferences known.

Who We're Looking For

Those who succeed in the Army ROTC program are students who excel and want something more out of their college experience.  Generally, these students are scholars who keep up their grades, athletes who are physically fit and leaders who have a great desire to make a difference.

Your Commitment

Army ROTC students who receive a scholarship or enter the Army ROTC Advanced Course (Junior and Senior Year) must agree to complete an eight year period of service with the Army.

Most cadets choose to make the Army their full-time job by serving in the Active Army. This normally incurs an Active Duty Service Obligation of three years (four years for scholarship winners). The remainder of their eight-year commitment can be served in the Army Reserves, Army National Guard or as a non-drilling Reservist (Individual Ready Reserve)
Cadets may also choose to serve their eight year commitment completely part-time in the Army Reserves or Army National Guard while pursuing a civilian career.

Whether Active Guard  or Reserve, being an Army Officer gives you responsibilities and experience that you can't get anywhere else!
