Professor of Military Science
Lieutenant Colonel Langkamp received her Army commission as a Second Lieutenant and Quartermaster Officer through Officer Candidate School (OCS), Fort Benning, GA, in 1997 following several years as a journalist and Noncommissioned Officer for the Army.
Her civilian education consists of a M.S. from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS (2011); M.A. from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN (2006); and B.A. from Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, MI (1993).
Lieutenant Colonel Langkamp’s military education includes the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS; Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course and Army Logistics University, Fort Lee, VA; Combined Arms Service Staff School, Fort Leavenworth, KS; and the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Fort Lee, VA.
As a senior logistician for the Army, Lieutenant Colonel Langkamp served in a number of storied units to include the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, and the 1st Armored Division. Her deployments include Iraq, Afghanistan, Balkans, Egypt, Africa, and Macedonia.
Lieutenant Colonel Langkamp has had the privilege of teaching leadership for several years. She is currently the Professor and Chair of Military Science at Duke University (2014-current). Lieutenant Colonel Langkamp was also selected to teach at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, from 2006 to 2010. As an Assistant Professor at West Point, she taught for both the Leadership Program and Sociology Program within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership. Her research interests include Leadership Decision Making and Gender.

Lieutenant Colonel Langkamp is a native of Plainwell, Michigan. She is married to Lieutenant Colonel and Army Aviator Joseph McLaine. Her husband is assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC. They have three children.
